The text is written in Khmer verse. We do not know the name of the author and the date of writing. Assume that this code was written in the past far. Mr. Khin Hoc Dy, specialist literature khmer writes: "When you do not know the date of writing and the author's name, it remains only to assess the literary value of the text. 

Here, I only translate into French the meaning of ideas. I leave readers to walk through these ideas to understand the thought Khmer. I will continue to bring many codes of conduct written by the sages Khmer. This is the first code, called the "words of the sages (Chbap Peak Chas). 

The words of the sages. 

1.     You do not try to understand your own fault, but a little lacking in others you see as a mountain.

2.     You like to have companions in the forest, but to taste honey, you hide in the house to enjoy.

3.     You always want to have more, you enjoy not selected, you think only of yourself, you forget everything else.

4.     You think only eat, but you lament of being tired to chew the food; one who has the same surname is seen as brother, but why not see a foreigner as nephew.

5.     You confuse the grandfather to the grandmother, you confuse the son for the nephew, you take two for one, you see the sadness to happiness.

6.     You will have the goodness to evil, you take heaven to hell, you take good for evil, you take the dung to the flower.

7.     You wear the pants in keeping your hair, you look in the mirror, closing your eyes, you take the horse to the ass, you take the kapok for rats.

8.     These are the words of the sages, you will understand them better while studying, you take the pool for the path, you should avoid anger, avoiding faults.

9.     Scientists are always honest about which are the words of the wise; Scientists do not commit violence, whose value is despised by the people well.

10. These are the words of the wises, do not complain that you had studied enough.

11. In night, you should not sleep too, because the thief came to the door, eat moderately, share with others.

12. You should lift the weight for your strength, it allows you to avoid getting sore shoulders, you should order with the address that you avoid having scrambled

13. You should think without precipitation, run a job after thinking, it will avoid having enemies and trouble.

14. You take the raw for the cooked, resolve a problem with a method, listen to others, it helps you increase your intelligence.

15. In business, think about all the details, because nothing is simple, listen to the experiences of others, it allows you to plan long term.

16. The old saying, do not feed the tiger ; do what you say.

17. When you hold the shot of the snake, be firm, otherwise it could turn against you, you should take the canoe without shaking, so the water was clear, we must ensure that it is cloudy.

18. When the leaves move, because it is windy, when the water is cloudy, because there are waves.

19. You should shake the hand of the weak, because they will sooner or later your friends when you have much, give a little to friends in need.

20. The rich help the poor as the cloth covering the body, scientists aid the ignorant as the ship helps the boat wrecked.

21. We must remain humble when you're a prominent person, give the fed the hungry, blessed the poor think, these are the words of the wise.

22. You help without waiting to ask you, good action in this, which protects the future, as the wall of thorns to protect the remains.

23. When you have lots of things to eat, give a little bit hungry.

24. Do not try to deceive others, you take the crocodile to the boat, you take the wood from the fence to the wood kitchen, if so, your worries are not far away.

25. When you have a boat, you should also have a gaffe, an oar, an anchor, a rope, a pillar;

26. to face a possibility of the storm, if you are careful in this preparation, they are told you are careful.

27. These are the words of the wises, which you speak;
